mary's christmas - 2017

Many of our thoughts about Mary are unrealistic and over-idealized. We think of her as a statue or a painting or the heroine in a Hollywood movie. In truth, she was an ordinary girl from a small town who was blessed with the incredible burden of being the mother of the Son of God. Join us as we follow Mary through the events of that First Christmas to see how she responded to God's gift and how it changed her life.

2016: The Original Christmas Songs

Why do we sing songs at Christmas? What do they mean? In Luke's Gospel, we see four different songs on the lips of four very different people:

Mary, the mother of Jesus, sings in Luke 1:46-56

Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist and uncle of Jesus, sings in Luke 1:67-79

The Angels sing on that first Christmas night in Luke 2:8-14

Simeon sings in the Temple when he sees the baby Jesus in Luke 2:25-35

Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, the prophet Micah had a prophetic song of his own, telling where the Messiah would be born and what He would do.

May God use these messages to put the true songs of Christmas in our hearts and on our lips this year and always!
